Let me cut straight to the chase: I’d like you to tell me how, in your opinion, I can improve my blog. What would you like to see more of and less of? What options could be added? What sort of layout and organization of content could help?

My request refers to the content but also to the structure and organization of the blog.
Emotionally and intellectually, I am in a different place than I used to be when I started the blog. My posts used to be quite intimate and honest but also rather self-centered. I think I’ve reached the limits of this self-centeredness. At some point, it needs to open up to the greater world, shift the focus on the others, and reconnect with them.
The layout I’ve chosen is simple and centered on displaying the posts. I haven’t created sub-categories of posts, as many people do, and I haven’t really developed the photography side of the blog, apart from the photos I use in my weekly posts. I feel that more specialization and more categories are needed to put some order into the growing body of work and orientate the visitor.
One thing I already know is that I need to create a separate tab/category for longer-term photo projects. For me, photography is naturally revolving around topics that attract me and to which I come back over and over again.
I realize that asking people to offer an opinion is quite a tall order for most. I also realize that there are just a handful of people following my blog who are actually interested in what I publish (and that’s normal and perfectly fine with me).
I have a pretty clear idea of what I want to change but I need to do a reality check against the perceptions of those who have visited my blog more than once. I also look for possible changes that I may not even be aware are needed or desirable.
If you have a few minutes to spare in order to provide some comments and suggestions, it would be a great help to me and I thank you deeply in advance!
The photos were taken a few days ago at the North Sea. Handheld long exposures while walking on the beach.
Florin one thing that you can do is to help the reader find a way around your blog by using keywords more consistently. The reader can click on the keyword and find related posts. I think categories are more useful to the blogger, to keep organized. I’m always thinking of ways to improve my blog but I’m never sure which direction I want to go. I guess it takes a life if it’s own.

Thanks, Alessandra! Certainly something I haven’t put too much effort into so far. Well noted.

I went to check what I wrote, it seems like the reader can also use the categories to find similar posts.

The photographs you take are breathtaking. I guess organizing one’s blog and making it more user friendly is always a great option. Keep doing what you do. The content is wonderful. 🙂

I’ve been casually following your blog for a while and I enjoy the fact that you talk from personal experience. I don’t find it self-centered because quite often it’s relatable. 🙂

Oh thank you. Maybe self-centered was not the right word, what I meant is too focused on my own issues and interests. Getting out of this personal bubble can help a lot reconsider one’s own issues. And I think it also makes them even more relatable.

I think the blog is great as it is, Florin. I would personally like to see more photos, with or without your thought process behind them. I like the simple layout and background, that always works well from a curation point of view as so many blogs are to busy. Maybe some more personal notes on what kind of photography you find most exciting to experiment with? Otherwise, it all looks pretty good to me. Great idea to pose that question and put it out there! I might do that myself 🙂

Well chosen tags and categories help a lot. You’ve already made a beginning with that.
